Title VI

Coffeeville School District’s FY 2008 Rural and Low Income School Program, Title VI, application is in the process of being developed. We are soliciting input from parents, teachers, students and concerned citizens in the development of the grant application. Title VI funds may be used for any of the following:

  • Teacher recruitment and retention, including the use of signing bonuses and other financial assistance.
  • Teacher professional development, including programs that train teachers to utilize technology to improve teaching and to train special needs teachers.
  • Educational technology, including software and hardware, as described in Section 2402 (a) of the Title II legislation.
  • Parental involvement activities.
  • Activities and programs that prevent violence and the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs in and around schools as authorized under Title IV- Part A Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities. 
  • Activities authorized under Title I- Part A Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies.
  • Activities authorized under Title III- Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students.

If you have suggestions or comments on how Coffeeville School District Title VI funds should be used during the 2007-2008 school year, submit them to Dr. Debra Petty by calling 662-675-8941 or emailing her at dpetty@coffeevilleschools.org, or you may come by the Office of Federal Programs which is located in the district office. Please submit all comments by September 24, 2007. The draft application will be available for public viewing and comments in the Office of Federal Programs from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday from September 25 through October 9, 2007.
