Title X-McKinney-Veto Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program

Coffeeville School District
Title X- Education of Homeless Students

Currently, the CSD has not identified any homeless students in its schools. Each year a written survey is sent out to district teachers to use to identify students in their classrooms that meet any of the identifiers on our recommendation form. Teachers are required to complete the form as soon as they are aware of a student that might meet the homeless definition. The identification form is also a part of the registration package for new students that enter our schools after the start of the regular school year.

Because we do not have a current homeless grant project, if students are identified as meeting the homeless definition, we will use available district and federal funds to provide services and activities for them in order to meet their needs. We will also work with other local agencies and organizations to provide needed services for these students and their families. A homeless recommendation form is posted on the district website for use by community members and/or agencies to recommend persons who may be eligible to receive services under the homeless definition.

If you have questions regarding Title X-Education of the Homeless, please contact Dr. Debra Petty, program coordinator, by calling 662-675-8941 or by emailing her at dpetty@coffeevilleschools.org, or you may come by the Office of Federal Programs which is located in the district office. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
